MSO Paintball (18th of May 2008)

Upon reaching the UNSW bus stop at about 10am, I was shocked to see there just so few of us going for the paintball. Heaps of people who comfirmed on facebook or with Bryant failed to turn up, some even decided to turn off their handphones!!

Anyway, instead of 30-40plus people that I initially expected to see, there were merely 13 of us. Nevertheless, I am very sure we had all the fun that we’re supposed to have if everyone turned up!

We hopped on to the bus(I think it was called the “Fun Bus” or something) and off we go to the paintball venue. Here are some pictures on the bus.

I just noticed this…everyone please look at Ananda’s eyes!!

aww….he wants Picnic…

After the registration, we were each given a mechanic-like-uniform and NO vests(execpt for the girls).  Following photo was taken after changing into the uniform.

The YouTube video is the commercial of Action Paintball, just to show you guys how paintball is like and also imagine how much fun we had getting shot at!

By the way, kudos to the fella who shot me at my tits and my manhood while I’M ACTUALLY STANDING IN THE DEAD ZONE!! If you did that because of what we wrote on the email “Now you can get us back for all the spam we send!”, I did not send out any emails okay, it was our Webmaster!!!

break time

Last but not least, a group photo!

The event offcially ended at around 4 or 5pm, it was really fun playing paintball with you guys!

Thank you to all those who showed up!!

Dragon Boat Race (17th of May 2008)

Sorry for the late blog entry guys, was busy with assignments & tests!!

Anyway, that morning, Michelle, Kai Xian, Huey Shyan and I decided to be nice human being and be punctual for the event. We reached the pier at about 9.30am, only to be told by the person-in-charge that he was suprised to see us there so early!!!! Apparently the meeting time was Malaysian Timing(it means the real meeting time is at least half an hour or an hour later)!

briefing

After waiting for n-hours, we started off with a short briefing where we were taught about how to paddle and the safety measures. There were four boats, one society each which consists of about 12-14 strong men and women. We were given a 30minutes training and synchonizing our movements before the official run. By the time we finished the training, my hands were already tired!

During the official race, all that I can remember is someone counting the numbers and me getting wet on one side of my body!! Dragon boating is not as easy as it seems okayy, I recalled when the person in front increased the speed on the counting, we were paddling like machines, at one point I seriously can’t even feel my hands and I even felt like throwing the paddle away! Anyhow our hardwork did pay off cause as far as I am concern, it looks to me that we’ve won. Although others might have some say about it, but to me, We’ve won, I don’t care =P.

carry

After the race, it was time for PIZZAAS. There were too much pizzas for too few of us that quite a few of us had one box each and we couldn’t even finish it by ourselves. Shortly after the meal, everyone started packing up and left.

It was a great experience to actually participate in a Dragon boat race, especially during such a cooling weather(the water is sibeh cold). For all those who missed it, be sure to join us again next year!

Dragon Boat Race 2008

Dear MSO members,

Dragon Boat Race 08′ is yet another splendid event jointly organised by the four Malaysian societies (MASA, MSO, MSA, SUAM).

In brief, dragon boating originated from China about 2500 years ago, and the cultural tradition has been passed on to the Chinese when they immigrated to Malaysia till this very day.

We are cordially inviting you to join us in our race against the Sydney river current under the ANZAC bridge.

It is very similar to paddle boating, but it is way more fun because you get to splash people around you! One boat consists of 18 rowers, a steerer, and a caller.

The details of the event are listed on the poster attached. Please find an attached map as well to guide you to the destination.

We are also providing free lunch (PIZZA) after the event since you will be starving by then. We shall be catering different flavoured pizzas straight to you, entirely FREE!

As to meet special dietary requirements, this will not be an issue as vegetarian and non-pork pizzas are provided.

Lepak-Lepak Night (3rd of May 2008)

I must say, it feels great to see so many of you actually came to our lepak-lepak night as initially I thought most of the people will prefer to stay at home because it’s too cold or just study at home cause it in between the mid-sessions.

Anyway, we gathered at the Physics Lawn at about 5pm, hanged around talking to each other and played frisbee and football. Teh tarik, kuih and some desert were served and I personally think the food and drinks were superb!!(though a bit less sugar would be better). Having a hot drink in such a cold weather just feels goooooood.

When the day turns darker, we departed to the cinema to watch the “Iron Man”. The movie lasted for 2 hours plus and seriously those who haven’t watched it should go do so immediately! I recommend  GMax @ Greater Union, George Street, the seats are large and comfy and the screen is huge.

Once again, we @ MSO sincerely thank all those who came yesterday and certainly hoped you have enjoyed yourselves. Please stay tuned for more upcoming exciting activities.

P.S Sorry for not having any photos as it was too dark!
