Join us!

So, what are you waiting for? Join us. Lah……

You can just walk over to MSO’s booth during O-Week at the start of each semester (23 Feb - 27 February 2009). Your registrations can be processed on-the-spot with a minimal cost of $10 ($5 for renewals) for a year of fun, sounds attractive?

In Australia, Voluntary Student Union (VSU) requires students to be a member of Arc, UNSW’s student union as a prerequisite to be a part of MSO.  If you are interested in joining MSO, you can choose either one of the following:

  • Pay $40* to join a single club only, which is MSO.
    or
  • Become an Arc member ($149)* with unlimited membership to all other Arc-affiliated clubs with minimal or no charge at all. Arc membership would allow you to receive membership benefits including free membership packs, discounts in university stores, bookstore and loads of vouchers for discounts in outlets all around Sydney including cinema discounts. Arc membership also provides discounts or free admission to selected MSO’s events. MSO would highly recommend you to join Arc as there are many hidden benefits that clearly outweigh the cost.

You can join MSO at anytime during the semester by contacting Sam Foong (Internal Secretary) to set a time and place to meet on campus to complete the membership registration with a MSO committee representative.  Once this is done, you are officially a member of MSO UNSW, and part of the lovely MSO family!  Throughout the year, through our mailing list, you will receive e-mail invitations and information regarding events hosted by MSO and its affiliated associations such as social events and career opportunities.

Accenture Career Opportunities!

Dear Members,Accenture will be hosting a dinner for UNSW Malaysian students this coming Friday, 12th September- venue to be confirmed. They are interested in briefing and informing students on the available career scopes with Accenture. The career scopes range over most, if not all, areas of study.

This offer had just been received in the past few hours. It is a great opportunity for students planning to start their career in the near future. I would strongly advise members to attend such an event. If it is any consolation, MSO committee members will all be attending.

If you are interested, please e-mail Aishah Abu Bakar at aishah4ken@gmail.com ASAP. The venue of the dinner will be confirmed closer to the date.

Thank You

Aishah Abu Bakar

Welcoming Lepak (3rd of August 2008)

dsc_31801.JPG

Although i’m pretty sure not everyone might be looking forward to starting a new academic semester at uni, they sure seemed to look forward to the satay that was promised to be served at the Welcoming Lepak! My mouth was watering as the other committee members brought two trays full of satay with the works at 2pm on that sunny but chilly Sunday afternoon.

It started off with a slow trickle of people but soon enough (in less than an hour!) the food was gone and the crowd was hankering for more satay and nasi impit. See, next time it pays not to follow ‘Malaysian time’. It was good getting to know new faces and catching up with old ones.

It was certainly entertaining to watch the Banana Game in progress, although it ended pretty quickly because the winning team expertly manuevered their bananas to win themselves brand new webcams! You should have been there to see the weird..urm..stuff they got themselves into. Later on, some of them played a round of ultimate frisbee while the rest mingled about and dispersed.

All in all, it was a good beginning to the new semester. Here’s looking forward to the upcoming events! You definitely wouldn’t want to miss it. After all, it’s always nice to have familiar faces from home, especially during winter!
